Honda's Short Top In Lites

Team Honda’s Andrew Short roared into Washougal, sweeping both motos to post his second overall win of the season.
August 4, 2006

Washougal, WA - Team Honda’s Andrew Short roared into Washougal, sweeping both motos to post his second overall win of the season. SoBe/Samsung Mobile/Honda’s Josh Grant joined Short on the podium, tallying a 2-3 for an impressive second overall, while Danny Smith, aboard the Motosport.com/MDK/MSR/Honda CRF250R, was the next-highest-finishing Honda rider in eighth, scoring a 10-10.

Shorty’s maximum points haul on the day helped the factory Honda rider close the gap on new series leader Mike Alessi (who passed Ryan Villopoto, the points leader coming into round eight, by virtue of his third-place result) and second-place Villopoto, with Short now sitting at 280 points to Alessi’s 315 and Villopoto’s 312. Grant lies fourth with 261.

In the MX class, Team Honda’s Davi Millsaps just missed landing his third straight podium result, capturing fourth overall with a 4-6. Unbound Energy/MotoXXX/Honda’s Tim Ferry, who’s been quietly racking up top 10 results since round three (he hasn’t finished lower than seventh in six events), took fifth with a strong 7-4, followed by Team Honda’s Travis Preston (6-5) in sixth, SoBe/Samsung Mobile/Honda’s Kevin Windham (5-7) seventh, and Unbound Energy/Honda’s Daniel Sani (10-10) in ninth.
